Top Gear 2016 Official TV show thread *contains spoilers*
Discussion
Enough of the Chris Evans bhing (for now ) how about a thread about the show itself?
The latest issue of Top Gear magazine has a preview, some of which sounds quite interesting:
Best city commuter car (including the Cenotaph incident)
Orient Express route race in luxury cars (bringing along Michelin chefs for the food…hmmm)
Track tests: Button in the 675LT, Sabine in the R8 V10
Moroccan Altas mountain rave in the Aerial Atom V8
RR Dawn vs. older alternatives
Restoring an MGB with modern mechanicals
Recreating the Geneva Motor Show E-Type race in an F-Type
Chris Harris track tests the AM Vulcan
SUV’s to the highest pub in Africa with pop stars (hmmmm)
Focus RS hooning
Viper ACR vs. Corvette ZO6 at Top Gun centre
Mustangs in Scotland
Harris: M2 vs RS3
Cautiously optimistic!

I've just had email confirmation of two tickets for them filming this next week - been applying every year but at last I have got some! Ok I originally signed up as a Clarkson fan but still pretty happy at this
Anyone else?
No, but please share the experience with us!Anyone else?

This thread is full of Clarkson bum boys who have been rubbing their hands with glee waiting to slag the new show off. So many definitive judgements made within the first 5 minutes!
Ridiculous.
You think the BBC were ever going to change the format of their most popular show?
So you think this is good quality prime time Sunday TV? Ridiculous.

One thing that stuck out to me and perhaps someone can answer,.
Regards the F12tdf that CH reviewed;
During the first section with the gorgeous 250 TDF, he mentioned how it was built for the world's longest road race, and how the 250tdf was "easy to drive long distances, but it was also fast."
Then in the bit with the new F12tdf, he spends the entire time spanking it around a track with all its tricks for doing that. Which was pretty stonking indeed.
But we didn't get to hear if its any good on anyting equivalent to the 4,000 mile lap of France, as in, does it live up to the old name in that sense, as well as just being "bonkers fast" on the track?
If not, why call it the tdf at all?
Nah, this is what it's for:Regards the F12tdf that CH reviewed;

I heard an interesting contribution on Sky this afternoon. The interviewee suggested that the reason that the format was not changed is that many people around the world see the show subtitled or dubbed and so the "subtleties" of the humour that was inherent in the Clarkson Hammond and May era didn't always translate. Or need to do so.
BBC played it safe by keeping the format as of old. Foreign markets would be happier & the BBC wouldn't run such a risk of alienating (sic) those valuable markets.
I suppose you don't muck about with the winning formula but IMO Clarkson WAS Top Gear and you just can't replicate it with new presenters. I enjoyed this series but as a car show. If I wasn't a car fan I wouldn't have been particularly entertained by it. I agree that MLB/RR/CH line up would be good for a car show, but that's not what its success was about. I want it to continue but it must cost an absolute fortune to produce and I don't think the viewing figures will merit it long term.BBC played it safe by keeping the format as of old. Remember Gordon Ramsey and his cringeworthy interview? Just came across this.
