Does anyone have films they could watch pretty much weekly, but aren't necessarily their favourite films? It seems a bit of a contradiction, but I would probably say Jaws is my favourite film of all time, but it's not one I would choose to watch often, probably annually at the most. I love everything about it, but like, say, Saving Private Ryan, it's not a film I would choose to watch on a lazy Sunday afternoon, it's almost as if I like to rediscover it after a long break.

Then there are films that probably wouldn't be in my top 10 yet I could happily just sit and watch every month or so, Dazed and Confused, Wall-E, Tremors, The Goonies. I can breeze through them, dip in and out and never, ever get bored of them even if I watched them five days ago.

Spirited Away is my favourite Ghibli film, but I've not watched it for years. I've watched Ponyo many times since, it's just effortlessly enjoyable.

Star Wars would be another good example, Empire over Jedi all day long, but I've got to want to watch Empire, where as if Jedi is on its very, very unlikely that I'll switch it off, particularly the fantastically paced final third cutting between Endor, the Death Star and the space battle.

Back when we were young and without responsibilities we went to see this 7 times at the cinema! Impressive considering it wasn't on for long and it was a one hour drive to our nearest multiplex at the time.

I think I could still quote the entire film word for word. The Tea Party documentary (on the Clerks Blu-Ray) is well worth a watch if you get a chance.

I have no interest in Kevin Smith's films now but still listen to Fatman on Batman and Hollywood Babylon podcasts religiously, that man can sure tell a story.
