Epic viewing, sometimes I grudge the TV licence but programmes like this are worth the full fee alone- bravo BBC.

P.S. Sucks to be a penguin!

Felt sorry for the Crabs, just out for a stroll and Ants attack and spray acid in your eyes blinding you, a long lonely painful death all due to mankind. I imagine with no predators the Ants will eventually wipe out the Crabs?

I would find it very hard to just watch a injured animal (i.e. penguin with broken leg) and not do anything to help/end suffering.

I avoided it because there's usually a heap of doom and gloom about how humanity is destroying everything etc etc, rather than just focusing on the wildlife.

Was there much of that this time?
Not really, just mention of the Ants we introduced to Christmas Island which were being nasty to the local crab population.
You should watch it, I still can't believe the snake segment, it's an absolute must see.

Never seen a lion hurl themselves at a giraffe like that!
Are my eyes deceiving me or do the lions have collars on?

Anyone else feel that this series feels somewhat squeamish and reluctant to show the natural working of the food chain?
You are probably right but the older I get the softer I get and I hate to see any animal suffer.
I understand exactly how nature works and the savagery of it at times but I don't enjoy seeing it.
What this does best is the narrative and amazing photography, what a privilege to see some of these shots.
