Perhaps time to kick off a new thread after the all the controversy last year.

Hopefully we can keep this on track, without massive arguments over which show/hosts are the best... rolleyes

Trailer for the new season was released a few days ago:

Not a lot of details to be gained but looks like a more subtle level of humour most of us enjoy, plus a little meta BBC humour too.

Looks like Eddie Jordan and Sabine Schmitz are both still involved in the show at some point too, hopefully both limited amounts.

Seems they may have competed at the "King of the Hammers" event.

Have we all watched the same trailer? The one where the three idiots are sat in front of an actuary? It looks like more scripted unfunny wk. They have changed the presenter line up but not progressed away from what made old Top Gear st. The stories were entertaining back when they appeared 10 years ago but in this day and age they just don't work. Lets hope I am proven wrong, I will be watching it regardless.

As for Chris Evans, I thought he did a great job but like a bunch of spoilt school kids he got bullied by the "fans". Anyone that stepped into JC's shoes for the first series was on a hiding to nothing, bit like the rebound girlfriend.
Didn't take long...perhaps history is where 2016 should stay?

If you watched to the end it did show a few interesting clips that have potential for good episodes, presumably a modern "Italian Job" film.

It's rubbish! Bring back Angela Rippon! I want reviews of windscreen wipers.....am I doing this right?
Well the series hasn't started yet so we have nothing to compare it to.

Although I'll write a quick letter to the BBC maybe Sabine can do the windscreen wiper reviews if that's acceptable?

Perhaps we should wait until the first episode or so and see who is the most right?

Hardly surprising is it?

Three non-native immigrant presenters.
??? I thought Reid and Harris were British.

What do you mean by 'non-native immigrant' and, bearing in mind the global audience why do you think this would be a detrimental factor?
I think it was more of a comment on the average Daily Wail reader...

Quite, can we all agree to leave 2016 where it belongs?

No Stig? I thought the Beeb would have wanted to plug their IPR. Could have had Stig teaching James McEvoy with appropriate signage but had Chris Harris instead. confused
I'm guessing the Stig will only do the hot laps now. Means Harris and whatever star they have on can talk in the car.

The crash looked pretty believable to me, the taxi falling off the bricks (and happening to have a running camera in it) less so. I think most people know that a lot of it is scripted it just has to be entertaining enough to allow us to suspend that disbelief because at that point, once that willing suspension has gone, you really should stop watching it.
Although the taxi falling off the wood/bricks was most likely staged it still had me in a fit of laughter!

Looks like Chris Harris is now becoming the tabloid media target of choice to blame for the new "Flop Gear":

I 'love' how a dozen or so tweets from random people (hardly any of them had decent number of re-tweets either) are now considered news... rolleyes

The George geezer on Extra Gear is genuinely crap.
I think he modeled his head wiggle on Tiff Needell
Yeah, they need to dump that close up intro to Extra Gear. It's painful to watch his head and body wobble about and the seemingly forced weird smile.

He's not completely terrible on the sofa opposite Harris and Reid, as far as I can tell this is his first major TV slot so will get better I'm sure!
