I’ve done a search, but can’t find a general “What’s on television” thread, could be that no one thinks there is a need for one.

Just seems strange, that most other platforms, Apple TV/Netflix/Amazon have one, but no general TV thread. Every time something is on television a new thread is started, which may see a couple of comments and die. Would it not be better to have them all in one place.

This was prompted, by a couple of things I watched recently, worthy of a mention, but IMO, not a new thread.

‘The Gold’ BBC; Drama series, inspired by true events surrounding the 1983 Brink's-Mat robbery. Knew about it, but surprised at the outcome.

‘Stonehouse’ ITVx life and times of disgraced Labour politician John Stonehouse, fairly amusing if a little flawed.

‘A Spy among Friends’ITVx,defection of KGB double agent Kim Philby, all good until the last episode.

I know these are all of a similar genre, found from recommendations on IMDb.

Could we not have our own general TV thread, what to watch or avoid.

‘Our Guy in Columbia’ I like some of Guy’s previous output, the narrator Shuan Dooley, can be a bit more, than a tad irritating. Five minutes was enough. Talk about stereotypes.

The Power of Parker, sitcom set in the North West 80’s/90’s. Fair amount of cringe, but funny at times, got the period nailed.

On ITV.

I finally got around to watching the final series of "Suits", I enjoyed it from the beginning but I think (from what I remember, series 8 was shown ages ago) it was losing the plot a little. The last series was good in parts, storyline was a bit reminiscent of one that I think was in LA Law, and the problem solved itself pretty quickly after a lot of faffing. Then it got a bit sugary towards the end, but I'm glad I've seen it all.

Now to find something else.
You’ve probably seen them, but in a similar vein;

Billions, first 2 series are excellent, finance V law.

Succession, members of a family fight for the control of a media empire. They lack morals, have no redeeming features and nothing is predictable.

Wanted: The Escape of Carlos Ghosn

A 4 part documentary, in which Carlos Ghosn, tries to paint himself as a victim.

An unbelievable level of ego, greed, and a lack of remorse, just staggering. Well worth watching!

Last Stop Larrimah, HBO I think.

Aussie documentary, town of 11, bit partial to a drop of sauce, only now there is, only 10. What happened?

A real insight into weird small town Aussie life, WTF would anyone want to live there, one pub/hotel if you can call it that and that’s it!

Well worth a watch.

The Great Erection Deception: The Stiff Nights Story, ITVX

The Stiff Nights Story tells the jaw-dropping true story of a Mormon man and his vegan business partner who made millions by duping their sex-loving customers into buying what they believed was a ‘natural’ alternative to Viagra.

Laced with double entendre and innuendo, its hard to keep a straight face. I was convinced it must be a spoof, but no its real. Not family viewing.

Bill Bailey’s Australian Adventure; Channel 4.

Bill has a jovial jaunt around Western Australia. Pleasant enough feel good viewing, mixture of music, humour and observation.

Concorde: The Race for Supersonic.

A decent documentary about the race, between, America, UK/France and Russia, to build the first commercial supersonic airliner.

Well worth watching.

Over the years I’ve heard much talk about ‘Mrs Brown’s Boy’, but never seen it, how bad could be?

I thought it might be so bad, its good, if you know what I mean. Gave it a twirl today, so bad, its bloody awful, the BBC pay for this rubbish.

‘Carmen Curlers’, Danish, with sub-titles.

Follows wiz entrepreneur Axel, who decides to recruit women from the neighboring farms for his production of electronic hair curlers.

Sounds boring, it’s anything but. Great cast an interesting developing plot, full of intrigue never quite sue which way it will swing next. An interesting insight to Danish life in the 1960’s; all of which is based loosely on a true story.

Well worth watching.

George Clarkes, American Adventure. Sunday 9.00pm on Channel 4.

Four part series, in which he travels around America, looking into architecture, history and culture; plus meeting some interesting characters along the way.

As always George is brimming with enthusiasm, which is quite infectious; a nice watch.

Gogglebox

Yes I know, but for Mrs. DG, English is a second language and this is an opportunity to see things she may like. We’ve found some good things which we might have otherwise missed.

Occasionally it will sometimes provide comedy gold, a week last Friday being one of them, ‘Good Mooring Britain’ we would never see this, had a section on valentines gifts that might spice up your love … Mary to Giles “What’s the number for Ofcom”

There’s a brand new series of World’s Most Dangerous Roads coming to Dave & UKTV Play.

Eight new episodes featuring a brand new batch of comedians navigating some of the most treacherous roads around the world.

I’m glad the blurb informed me there are comedians as I wouldn’t have known otherwise.

Now it should be renamed the world’s most dangerous sheep/goat herding routes, as it seems no other motorized transport are using these routes.

I find it quite disingenuous, Joe Swash and Sean Walsh, navigate the treacherous terrain and untamed wilderness of Guatemala, they drive off a perfectly metalled road on the a track, then return to a metalled road again, with nothing of significance in between. Are we supposed to believe this was the only route to their destination?

Perfect Pub Walks with Bill Bailey
Bill Bailey sets out on some of Britain's best and most spectacular pub walks. Each time he is accompanied by a celebrity guest, sharing amusing and personal conversations as they walk to 3 different pubs for a pint.

Nothing groundbreaking; just some nice feel good television. It’s made all the more appealing by Bill’s knowledge on various subjects, bringing the walks to life.

Currently watching ‘The Rise and Fall of Boris Johnson’

I’m not a particularly political person; I don’t really have much of a view on him. However, watching him and others voting based on the future of their career, not what is the best for the people or the country; really shocked me.

Clearly, I’m extremely naive.
