Bad Films I watched this weekend
Discussion
To add to the Good Films thread perhaps it's time for a bad films watched thread. It seems there's more bad than good out at the moment, let alone over-hyped nonsense.
To start Skyline. Looks like a made for TV movie not a cinema release blockbuster.
Poor script, acting, plot. That's the basis. Then there's the fact every cliche is in there followed by ideas stolen from every other film.
Its written and directed by Visual Effects guys and it shows.

Really? Why is it 'utterly terrible'?
The acting was useless, and so was the storytelling. The subject matter clearly clouded the judgement of the film critics. " 'Merica, fk yeah. "The cinematography was good, the tension of the raid decent, the effects good, it was a cohesive tale and not all actors were bad etc etc. you need to fail on all accounts to be 'utterly terrible'
I would also state it painted a poor picture of Americe and wasn't all great
As much as we don't like referencing IMDB at 7.5 from 120,000 votes tells me that your view is somewhat marginal and please don't refer to all 120,000 as Americans.

Embarrassingly, I enjoyed the Twilight films (and so did OH). Not because of the love story - which when you look at it is pretty fked up. Edward spies on Bella all the time, even when she's asleep, tells her what to do, who to be friends with, what to wear and tries to control her on pretty much every level.
They were just kind of enjoyable to watch.

Embarrassingly, I kind of enjoyed the books. However, they did make the vampires and stuff far to "fairy" in the movies. On top of that, the acting often is dire. I've seen the movies and I hated them tbh. I think it was the 2nd/3rd one (can't remember, the one where she's "grieving" for him) when I said to my wife: that's the last one you got me to see. Odly, I still went to see the ones after that for some strange reason.

I have just watched The Master.
Oh my. I haven't been so bored since Fulham 0-0 Southampton, 7th April 1978. Dull dull dull dull dull dull dull dull............
What a load of old excrescence, with a stty cherry on top. Poo to that film, Sir, with knobs on.

After Earth - will smith gives his son a job. Its absolutely dire.
His son can't act and he insists on using some retarded accent which is a cross between texan and 'da hood' which is impossible to understand.
The cgi is rubbish.
The script is terrible.
After 30 minutes we gave up and I never give up on films.
Worst film in a long time.

watched two stinkers this weekend, the aforementioned Lone Ranger and Hammer of the Gods(utter tosh apart from some good fight scenes with lots of blood.
Oops I have Loan Ranger to watch. Is it really that bad? Ill give it a go and see how it pans out. Avoid it - you'll get nothing out of it but boredom and regret.

Don't know if it's been mentioned on this thread but Only God Forgives is possibly the worst movie I've sat through in many a year. Ryan "I'm a bit moody and don't like dialog" Gosling. Self indulgent art house, dreamy Karaoke scenes, virtually no dialog, unbelievable characters who are all so unpleasant you don't care about them. The list of how cruddy this film is goes on and on. Just awful.
Have you seen the film Drive, and if so did you like it? I think I might like Only God Forgives because I like Drive.Adam B said:
Believe 1/10
Matt Busby comes back to manage a kids football team, the only interesting thing about it was it was shown on sky at the same time as it's cinema release.
This is because it's so unutterably st that no one would pay to see it
Cheesy predictable crap, even if it is designed for kids

Just got back from "Before I Go To Sleep". Pretty slow to get going and I know it's based on a book, but the ending was so frustrating. After she discovers that "Ben" isn't Ben, I wished they'd left it with him deleting the photos and her waking up in the house as usual. To me, that would've been deeply disturbing and a better ending instead of the soppy crap we got.
Don't know the film but thanks for the spoiler!Pommygranite said:
