SKorea just remove their side of the DMZ and go home ....

Read this on another site but it didnt get much traction. However i think its a worthwile discussion.
Say the US and SK just packed up one day and left the DMZ with a statement in UN saying we arnt playing the game anymore, however if you invade SK, Pyongyang will be nuked, what would happen inside NK ?
NK have spent the last 40 years focused on this piece of land. Much of their military is dug in along it. SK just dismantling their posts and fences and walking away would be seen by thousands of NK conscripts.
1. They couldnt prevent word spreading from the military lines, that the thing they want most (unification) is 'happening'.
2. Their people would rejoice for victory ! The Korean Peninsular is unified and is now goverened by NK. It must - be after all the enemy just walked away leaving an empty border. Lets cross it and head for Seoul.
3. Then what ? Nothing. NK cant allow anyone to cross the border ** yet it has 'won the war'.
The brainwashed masses wont be able to parse this, Kim Dong cant explain the parradox. The sky falls in and its game over.
Of course now the UN, China, Russia and SK have 19.5 million starving people to sort out......
2. Any stream of either military or civilian cossings would be one-way. No-one comming back = End of regieme.
3. Anyone who did return would bring luxurys like food with them, plus stories of plenty, peace, the realities of the outside world, DVDs of Team America etc = End of regieme.
I dont see any way NK would survive this passive move by SK. Any thoughts ?

These are both common agruments, especially the comparisons with Iran.
Iran are driven ( if you believe the western media ) by religous fanantasists - some of whome believe that to bring about the comming of the second imam, there must be a massive east/west war. They may well be prepared to sacrifice their country to achive that.
However, NK are not stupid. There is no way they would have been able to control / brainwash 20 million people for 40 years if they were 'mad'.
They understand game and powerplay very well - so what would they do to stay in control ?
