''Harris, 84, denies sexually harassing four victims, one as young as seven or eight, between 1968 and 1986.''

Trial expected to last about two months.

Somehow, I find this one the most depressing of them all.

News here in Rolf's home town of Perth is that the jury have twice asked what to do if they cant reach a unanimous verdict. First time the judge said he could only accept a unanimous one but they local media hasn't said what his response was to the second request.

Not seen any of this reported on UK Online media as far as I have seen.
They've come back with more questions:

1) can we discuss the legal directions given, as there seems some confusion. A juror is making behavioural assumptions which is taken into account as evidence on many counts?

2) we are to judge each count independently, please clarify?

3) is it allowed to stereotype what the victim should have done prior to an alleged offence taking place in more than one count and using it against them?

4) as opposed to using patterns within counts to help an outcome of one count, surely it is non advisable to take evidence from one count in the future to judge the count in the here and now, NB counts three to nine, please clarify?

5) can the voracity of a witness statement in one count be taken into account when judging the voracity of a witness statement in another count?

Is it just me or question 2 in particular pretty bad for a jury to be asking after 6 days of deliberations?
After this and the Pryce jury I have now developed an irrational fear of being called for jury service and being trapped for five days in a room with eleven of the stupidest people on God's earth

In laymans terms, what does question 4 mean please?
I'm not sure a layman will be able to tell you. A psychiatrist, maybe......

Even if we argue the toss about number 4, what about question 2?

''we are to judge each count independently, please clarify?''

What have they been doing for the last week?

The whole point of the Yewtree prosecutions is that it is simply one person's word against another, with no physical evidence.

The prosecution are saying that, because there a several independent accusations that are similar, it adds weight to each of the individual accusations which might otherwise be flimsy.

What I take from the jury's questions, however confused it is, is "should we consider each charge only on it's own evidence, or should we take into account the collective similar accusations?"
Don't doubt that at all. But the fact that they still don't seem to have established that after a week's worth of deliberation is what's worrying me

Still no verdicts, but the jury have raised with the judge that he estimated the trial would be concluded by today. Apparently, there are letters ready to go out to their employers saying ''Sorry, you can't have them back just yet''

So clearly they weren't expecting it to go on this long. Nothing mentioned about majority verdicts, though.

Edited to add - according to a journo tweeting from the court, they have just been called back in - at 4.22pm - and it looks like the jury will be sent home for the weekend.

I must admit, whether Rolf is a top nonce or not, the woman who was on C4 news this evening describing how Rolf diddled her when she was 16 did look like she was loving the attention. Her poorly concealed half-smile was actually a bit disturbing to watch. Whether or not Rolf nonced her, she's seeing dollar signs.
Yeh of course she trying to hold her smile back, her compensation money will be in the bank soon.

I wonder when she/they get their money they will care that they have ruined a mans life?!
And people wonder why victims don't come forward
