Not sure this was mentioned already - the untimely demise of founder of Eastenders off licence in Calais (for all those who remember the cross channel booze cruise).

Somewhere there is a TV documentary about him visiting the likes of Hennessy at a trade fair and getting the VIP treatment as one of the largest booze buyers - a Romford barrow boy.

His son (possibly the No1 suspect) was in it being groomed to take over, and speaking fluent French (unlike his Dad who maintained his distinctive accent). However, pile it high and sell it cheap isn't anathema to market traders.

Apparently he still owns the cash 'n carries - one of the largest in UK ownership. When the documentary was made they stated his worth at >£100million. And it was largely cash sales...
