Includes such gems as

Large Schools with more than 700 pupils broken up and "localised"
Inheritance tax to apply to all transfers of wealth between generations.
£71 a week for everybody.
Remove VAT and replaced with a tax calculated on environmental damage
Aim for no economic growth ever again.

I already know what they are smoking, as they plan to legalise that too !

They're thinly disguised communists. Beware.
Communists at least believed in economic development and growth, prosperity and that money was essentially the reward for labour/effort.

They'll need thousands of trucks to get the stuff into all these new shops.
Assume the Green position for a moment,

Every Egg, Chicken Breast, Rolled Joint of Roast Beef and such will now need to be locally sourced, Free Range.

How much land would be required to maintain current consumption? if every beastie that is eaten on a DAILY basis, needed to be free range. ( I am assuming, that no importation of meat would be allowed )

I would be willing to bet, it is more than the available land in the UK

PD302 On inspection, there is little or no threat of direct invasion of the UK by any nation. Commitment to a large standing army, a navy of large warships around our coastline, squadrons of fighter planes and a cripplingly expensive missile defence system is therefore unnecessary. Any threat of invasion that might arise in the future is so remote that realignment of the UK military and defence preparations would be possible long before any invasion occurred.

I think the notion of a society where families don't need 2 earners flogging themselves just in order to survive would be a good thing. There's more to life than work.
That is the message they need to get across, I fully agree, if they can limited the lunacy angle (eg defence policy) - and promote what sustainability really means for quality of life, then I think they have some valid points of view.

But it is the barking nonsense which will get the headlines, and to pretend otherwise is to not treat the greens as a credible political movement.

But most of us currently get nothing, and the Green proposal is for the payment to be universal, plus no one's benefits will be going down, upward only.
Did you miss the bit where EVERY tax payer will lose the personal allowance.

So if you are in a double income relationshio and both 40% tax payers, that's £20,000 at 40% - £8k

The value of the £71 per week allowance - is about £7000 between you.

Will that mean you work less ?
