To be honest I can only barely register this person on my cultural radar. But I do find the arguments swirling around that their appearance on the cover of Vanity Fair is symptomatic of America's decline into decadence - along the lines of ancient Rome - quite interesting, whilst not necessarily agreeing with them. Thoughts?

I was in Bruges recently. And the entire area within the inner canals is effectively a theme park. Everything in it is entirely constructed for tourism - no different to EuroDisney a few hundred miles away. And yet Bruges was once the New York of Europe. It was real and genuine a mere 300 years ago.
