BBC lose rights to Olympics?

What is going on?
They lost the F1 to Sky, make a horlicks of dealing with TG and now they've lost out on the rights to televise the Olympics from 2022 to Eurosport/Discovery?

And more reading reveals BBC 3 is going off air and plans +1 channels have been ditched altogether. Not that the last bit is worth crying over, who really needs +1 channels these days? BBC is a shame though, always count on that for a bit of Family Guy or American Dad.
