... It will cut down on hot air which, I think, is contributing to global warming.

Strange you chose to pick on PETA rather than address the content of the article which was largely taken from the telegraph link on the PETA website and the report by Chatham House.
No mention of PETA in OP; I merely linked to their site on the page that referred to the Chatham House 'report'.

There's not much to be debated here really, the meat industry is a massive contributor to energy waste and inefficiency and pollution and in general (especially in the western world) eating a bit less meat would be beneficial on lots of different levels - that's not really news is it?
It is news when social engineering interest groups, Like Chav House, are given airtime in the media to quote their 'findings' as fact (which is a long, long way from, the truth) in their simpering whining tones. Their mouthpiece on the radio last night sounded like she;d only just finished crying about it. Utterly imbecilic to publish crap like this and call it science.

And, furthermore, if 'they' come for meat-eaters, it really will get nasty.

I thought from the title that this thread was going to be about eating vegetarians. I find them quite delicious.
With fava beans and a nice Chianti?

What would Morrisey say?
Frankly, really, even among those who actually like his music; does anyone honestly care?

Dogs aren't carnivorous either... Not many mammals are, cats are the only ones that spring to mind, maybe whales but they eat fish, does that count? (they don't have canines either)
I don't normally get involved with these types of topics, but that one line is plainly utter codswallop. Of coursre they're carnivores, it's only stupid humans that add vegetables to their food. Give a dog the choice of a nice rabbit or a carrot, I know which the dog would choose.
My dog would eat both. He dug up a rabbit burrow int he garden and managed to catch two and then proceeded to eat them whole, but equally he's usually about for kitchen scraps when meals are being prepared and eat anything from carrot tops to apple cores with gusto. (Or should that be gutso?)

And, Fred's got one point right; the dog does eat poo as well.

If you want to bring Latin in to it then technically a Giant Panda is a carnivore (member of the Order Carnivora). What you're arguing about though is the difference between an Obligate carnivore (only eats meat) and a Faculative carnivore (mainly eats meat), the important point being they're both carnivores.
IMHO, and I am a mechanical engineer, not a biologist, surely the very fact humans evolved canine teeth indicates the importance of meat in the diet at some point in our evolutionary history, in not (strictly, technically) today?

Removing a small amount of the meat from our diets is no problem at all.
Nor is it necessary, and nor do I wish to be forced to by the holier than thou brigade.
^This.

AFAIC it is about choice, rather than genetics or dietary science around which this unpleasant little speck of daft propaganda hinges.

And yet vegans don't just drop dead... It's a mystery innit all this biology guff...
My understanding is that there are 2 amino acid humans need that cannot come from vegan sources.

Vegans get these supplements from the chemist. They tend to not question where exactly the chemist gets them from. A truly vegan diet will kill them., albeit slowly.
Hahah; with all due respect, your understanding is bks... not that it bothers me a bit - but still; bks. About as bks as dogs not being carnivores I'm afraid.
If you eat nothing but rabbit, you die. I know this to be a fact.

I'm not sure how this moves the discussion forward, but I'm lobbing it in here, like some sort of irrelevance grenade anyway.

Carry on.

Likewise if vegetarians eat their hat and nothing else.
I can never consider this debate without being reminded of this (NSFW): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OiSaENiho-Y

I'm not a veggie by the way, but there is some amount of balls being spouted here by anti-veggies, almost all primates have long canine teeth, longer than ours relatively, and almost all of them eat way less meat, relatively, than us (and thiers is raw of course)
Of course he doesn't eat much meat, its fvcking raw. Show the fella how to use a bbq and I guarantee he'll want rib eye more often. biggrin
Don't Google for "canibalism in primates" if you want a nice start to your weekend..
