Has Cameron stated that he will not stand for re-election?

I reckon it will be Osborne.
Osborne has already said he won't stand. I didn't think he would after last week, he has no allies and is disliked by more than he is liked. Plus there was that brexit thing.

You think Cameron would stand in the relection?

I reckon they're all dead ducks save for BoJo and the Kadasian May.
But the thing about Cameron above is making me get the crackpot theory out...if it looks like a sneak deal done to not do clause 50 happens...it's not impossible that he may consider sliming back.

What's this?! Has Gove been looking across the chamber and thought, 'bit of skulduggery, I like the sound of that!!'

I've joked about it, but current UK politics is more like Game of Thrones than ever.

Can we restart the poll because Gove entering changes everything IMHO
I've asked.

This is most interesting, in my head it was basically BoJo/May....but Gove makes it a threeway now....although, still behind those two in my mind.

Indeed. There would have to be some form of cataclysmic event to trigger and election now, when the party is starting with a new leader.
Well...both main gangs in turmoil, country in turmoil (split anyway), the economy/market in turmoil. Chaos is a ladder for those who wanna make a bid. No time like the present? biggrin

I don't think he'll win, but I like that clip.

Though he does look a bit like that precocious kid from UK 80s telly.

For those wondering why Gove did what he did, watch the Daily Politics from today, and the bloke from the Sun newspaper, he has heard what he said from that circle. It seems very plausible.

So one to drop today.

Likely, Liam Fox?

Is it really gonna be May and Leadsom at the end? Fox's backers likely for Leadsom or Gove?

Religious people worry me, the last time we had a Prime Minister driven by his faith it was Blair, and look how that turned out, if they think God is on their side reason and rationality go out of the window. This is what Leadsom has to say:

Leadsom said:
As well as family, faith is also central to Mrs Leadsom’s life – and her politics. Here, she differs from Mr Cameron, who once compared his faith to the reception for Magic FM in the Chilterns – “It comes and goes”.

Mrs Leadsom says: “I am a very committed Christian. I think my values and everything I do is driven by that. It’s very important to me. I actually study the Bible in Parliament with a group of colleagues and I do go to church but I am not a regular. There’s the cross party Christians in parliament group and there are various Bible studies groups, which I find incredibly helpful.”

Does she pray often? “I do pray a lot - all the time - mostly for support and doing the right thing.
Oh Christ not another one!

Not as far as this member of the party is concerned, he wouldn't.

He's shown himself to be a complete and utter weasel.

In fact, Gove is more of a weasel than this chap...

...who, I don't doubt, prides himself of being a fine example of Mustela nivalis.
He should join the Parliamentary Labour Party.

As for Christians, I agree that they are 'mostly' harmless, but I don't think that you are harmless if you are seeking guidance from deity on right and wrong and help for making decisions. Re-read her interview.
Quite. You might as well put faith in someone who seeks guidance from The Three-Eyed Crow or the Red God. biggrin

Sounds like she's slightly conservative on a number of issues. Kind of what you might expect from a so-called Conservative party.

The abortion situation in the west is a disaster and needs addressing. 90%+ of them shouldn't happen (~180,000/year FFS).
How is it a disaster?

"Post 1967 there was a rapid increase in the annual number of legal abortions, and a decline in sepsis and death due to illegal abortions...
...In 2004, there were 185,415 abortions in England and Wales. 87% of abortions were performed at 12 weeks or less and 1.6% (or 2,914 abortions) occurred after 20 weeks."
