Byron Burgers immigration raid.
Discussion
You might have thought it a complete non story, but company complies with officials over illegal workers and gets slated for doing by the thick end of Twitter and Facebook. Why would you actively condemn them and then try and boycott their business ?

As crafty and stty a thing it was to do, it's the law. I'd have rather they asked the authorities to do their own jobs instead of getting them to snipe their (presumably good) employees.
If they did carry out the appropriate checks, then I don't think they'd have had anything to worry about regarding punishment.
Why stty ? Don't they have a right to protect their business against those who seem to have faked documentation ? I'm not seeing why they should have told immigration officials just to raid each shop or not cooperated. If they did carry out the appropriate checks, then I don't think they'd have had anything to worry about regarding punishment.

Let's just say, as an example, it's your gardener. He's been with you for a few years, does a pukka job every time, reasonably priced and a bloody nice bloke to boot. Could you collude with the authorities to catch him in your back garden? I'm not saying they're wrong at all. But it' seems (to me, and obviously not to you) and right turncoat thing to do.
Again. They seem to have done the legal and right thing though
They seem to have picked the least worst option ( or so they thought ) of what they thought would minimize the bad news, rather than possibly have it all over social media as people film it live as they sit down for a burger and the joint gets raided. I don't blame them for doing so as it is they who were conned and who take the risk from what is a dishonest bunch of employees.

I suspect their due diligence was a bit sketchy and I maintain my suspicion that they did a deal to avoid a bumming from the authorities. One thing's sure, their PR department either wasn't consulted or they want shooting. Crap PR.
They don't seem to have a choice. Comply or get raided and closed down for the day an face up to a £700k fine and the PR from that. People don't seem to accept any responsibility for their own actions these days. This case is similar to those immigrants who come on a temporary visa, don't get an extension, refuse to leave and then face forced deportation to the same bunch of stupid protesters.
