I have been pondering how the human psyche deals with the aftermath of these events.
That of the 10 people drowning of our coast and the considerable loss of life in the earthquake in Italy against the loss of life when Islamic fundamentalists strike a deadly blow.
In the first two events we mourn the loss of life and basically shrug our shoulders and get on with our lives.
With the other, this forum would be filled with posts, the media would give banner headlines, our democracy might be compromised by calls for intrusive sanctions into our daily lives.
Please give me your thoughts on this subject and why we react so differently.

There's not much man can do to stop natural disasters. There is a lot we can do to stop terrorist attacks.
Not true.
Where are the banner headlines screaming ...." EVERYBODY MUST WEAR LIFEJACKETS WHEN SWIMMIMG "
Or " ALL BUILDINGS IN EARTHQUAKE ZONES MUST HAVE SOUND FOUNDATIONS ".
