I'm surprised that we don't already have a thread about this great woman.
Margaret Thatcher took a couple of years to demonstrate her greatness. Theresa May only took a couple of hours.
Today, she is going to announce her intention to repeal the 1972 European Communities Act.
She has severly clipped the wings of the civil service.
Sir What'sHisName, the civil servant who used to chair many government commitees, is no longer even able to attend the meetings.
By God, this woman is impressive.

Teflon Theresa. One of the most incompetent Home Secretarys ever. Despite everything she touched becoming a shambles, nothing ever stuck.
She's lucky her opposite number is Corbyn. Anyone with half an ounce of competence would take her to the cleaners.
I have a suspicion that as time passes you will come to like her. She's lucky her opposite number is Corbyn. Anyone with half an ounce of competence would take her to the cleaners.
She publicly declared herself as a Remainer, but then she appointed Liam Fox, David Davis and Ian Duncan-Smith to her cabinet. It would appear that she was probably a Leaver all along.

I went back several pages and couldn't find it.

Apart from being a woman I can't really see much similarity to Thatcher yet, May hasn't actually done anything despite don4l's excitement.
ThisShe currently has favourable press coverage, and talks a good talk, but hasn't actually done anything.
It took two years for the left to realise that their dreams were shattered under Thatcher.
Theresa May only took two weeks.
When Trump is president, we will probably join NAAFTA within a few weeks.
"Back of the queue", my arse.

Did you actually read your own link? Senior UK civil servants wield far more power than an EU president.
You need to read the OP.UK civil servants have a lot less power than they had a couple of months ago.
If the story is true, then she won't be putting with any "Yes Minister" type of nonsense.

Civil servants implement the wishes of the elected officials of a sovereign state. The EU president on the other hand...
We haven't had a sovereign state since the European Communities act came into force in 1973.http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1972/68/conten...

You don't understand the constitutional relationship between the Civil Service and the Govt, do you?
A Prime Minister - quite rightly - can't just "severely clip the wings" of the Civil Service on a whim
Actually, the piece that I read was in the Mail.A Prime Minister - quite rightly - can't just "severely clip the wings" of the Civil Service on a whim

Leaving aside the fact that your source is a journeyman hack that even the Telegraph asked to leave because his small minded bile was too right-wing for their blood, I don't think Heywood will see the current PMs rather churlish refusal of his support and guidance at meetings at which she'd be well advised to have Civil Service input (even though he doesn't constitutionally need to do so) as something to lose sleep over.
I think that, if she did try to tread on his constitutional authority, he'd turn her over without a second thought but, to give her credit, I think she's bright enough not to try.
I admit, now that I know the source, I am not as confident as I was.I think that, if she did try to tread on his constitutional authority, he'd turn her over without a second thought but, to give her credit, I think she's bright enough not to try.
However, it wouldn't surprise me if it were true.
I get the impression that May has spent her entire life planning for premiership.
She really has hit the road running. I have never seen a Prime Minister make their mark so quickly.

Why do you think I failed?
You cannot see why everyone should have the same opportunity to reach their full potential. OK, that's your view. Mine appears to be more or less the opposite.
Yet you go on to argue that those who struggle against physical limitations are entitled to greater investment.
I attended two secondary schools. You cannot see why everyone should have the same opportunity to reach their full potential. OK, that's your view. Mine appears to be more or less the opposite.

At the first one every single pupil was going to go to university.
At the second one, only one other pupil had any inclination for further education.
Peer pressure is very important.
Another difference between the two schools was in the first one they instilled confidence in us. That confidence/arrogance has proved to be incredibly important.

Comrade Corbyn will be in power soon to sort things!https://www.theguardian.com/business/2016/oct/05/g...
I can't wait till May gathers momentum.... ba-dum-tsh!
Nigel is clearly far more likely to be our next PM than Corbyn.
Corbyn is almost as good as Michael Foot, whilst Nigel has actually achieved everything that he set out to do.
Perhaps I need the whoosh parrot.
JawKnee, do you really think that Corbyn is going to be the next PM?
Please tell us that you do. Also, please tell us how most people would be better of with him as PM.
The floor is yours...

I find this picture of Diane at home truly inviting. She has a modern outlook on life. But I cant help but hope that Diane is a traditionalist and prefers stockings and suspenders to tights.
Get a tissue before you scroll down. You will love this!I would shag Diane if she weighed 14 stone less!

Nice words from Theresa see if it turns into deeds.
Get writ of the bedroom tax, zero hrs contracts and the working poor.Housing for people to live in if there is any money left after Brexit.I don't mean that in a sarcastic way and I hope it works out ok for our future.
I have my doubts, probably a general election next year more fun to look forward to.

There is no such thing.
The state should not be providing spare bedrooms that are paid for by honest hard working citizens.
There really can be no justification for us paying so that the unemployed can have an empty bedroom.
I will be very disappointed if she moves on this issue.
