Things that fascinate me: The officials and ministers at the Home office are, presumably, adult. Or at least outside the age limits they set for the beneficiaries of this particular largesse*. They must see that the individuals are definitely neither children nor vulnerable. Conclusion: they are running scared of being accused of an 'ism' of one kind or another in their over-zealous grading parameters.
- Largesse. I don't think the practice of rescuing vulnerable minors from peril is in any way largesse or even generous. It is more a duty. What's happening is way outside that.
BSR, you seem to be deliberately missing the real point in all this. After all the scandals our government has presided over and been a major part of, lying through their teeth, covering up one disgrace or another or just plain incompetent, the stupid attempt at passing these adults off as children in such a contentious climate is much to close to haughty cynicism to be allowed to pass. Your high-horse virtue signalling is wasted. The resentment is not directed at the immigrants, it's the sheer contempt shown by the government.
Maybe the children of indeterminable age are in reality known troublemakers who are being fast tracked into Blighty so they can be followed to their destinations. If there had been a percentage of real vulnerable children like the ones who were prominent on earlier news media film there might be a smidgeon more support.
