Indonesian chemical castration

I wonder what peoples attitudes are to the Indonesian plan to chemically castrate pedophiles.
There is a strong condemnation of the plan but I think that many people would agree with it.

When one of those horrible incidences are reported, it is a very common outcry that "he should be castrated".
I find myself not disagreeing.

Obviously, as with capital punishment, the risk is that innocent people may suffer.
For that reason I think that it would not be acceptable.

They have their balls inserted into a plastic bag and held on with an elastic band. The bag is filled with concentrated sulphuric acid!

That would have been my suggested method.
