Trump President saga, it begins
Discussion
we have some great posters on here great posters we are posting some fantastic stuff fantastic stuff.
Its about time people in positions of world power actually spoke to like Adults without having the diplomatic services getting involved. Trump is going to keep all the experts at arms length and really wind people up to see what reaction he gets its how he works. This business of not upsetting China or anyone else for that matter is quite frankly childish.

Not sure the OP is correct, hardly running home to mommy. Haters gonna hate.
Follow up tweet says it all really. All to do with "face" as in saving Chinese face, or more virtue signalling, I'd rather judge him on what he does, as clearly you cant believe anything he says.
I thought he was elected to the most powerful office in the world (which he hasn't occupied yet) but apparently the Chinese get to dictate who's phone calls he can take? Now had he rocked up with a US fleet in Taipei...

My cat is more up to date with current affairs than the whole Trump administration, there was no need to justify himself in front of the Chinese. He just looks weak, its not fantastic or beautiful, the Russians and the Chinese will wipe the floor with him

So you think its OK for Trump, the leader of the free world to tweet that actually it was taiwanese that called first ?
Are you upset because you think he is lying or because you think he is telling the truth? I think he makes a fair point about the Taiwan situation. Its nonsense, in aviation terms we have an area of air traffic control in the med where you're supposed to talk to Turkey and Greece at the same time because its disputed territory. They don't talk to each other, but they have an understanding to save face. If Trump makes things uncomfortable for people who want to ignore how ridiculous it is to sell arms to a country they can't officially recognise - brilliant.
I'm not a fan of Trump but I think he might be another Ronnie Raygun - a man who is a personal minnow - but brings out the best in others and the US.
Appointing Mad Dog Mattis has impressed me too. A Sec Def. who understands and appreciates war, casualties and prepares for the first to avoid the latter. He's known as the 'Warrior Monk' and has already persuaded Trump to drop the return of waterboarding. However Sky portrayed him as this:
http://news.sky.com/video/mad-dog-mattis-trumps-mi...
The context of people deserving to be shot after abusing women was lost.. but he's called 'Mad Dog' so clearly nuts. (I have a mate called Tiny who's 6'7" - Sky need to get better hacks)
The email about book reading avoiding ignorance is more enlightening than the Sky piece IMO.

I can't remember who Obama's Sec Def is, I suspect if it had been someone like Mattis, the US would be in a better place and the world would be a bit safer.

Cat owner.... I bet it's a Peking-nese?
Genuine quote from the new Trump choice for Sec Def:
“I come in peace. I didn’t bring artillery. But I’m pleading with you, with tears in my eyes: If you fk with me, I’ll kill you all.”
Not said in a bar, or in a lockeroom, but whilst trying to avoid unnecessary death on the battlefield.
Another 15 quotes from one of the most influential figures of the Trump regime ( if he gets an exemption from 7 years non active after military command ) :
