Passed through Milton Keynes for work a few days ago. Home of WD-40. Built the world's first programmable computer. Britain's fastest-growing city. Churches and pubs almost a thousand years old. Part of the Oxford-MK-Cambridge "golden triangle". Quietly becoming a tech hub to rival London (driverless cars, virtual reality, etc.). Greened up with 22 million trees inside the city boundary.

According to the Guardian, MK is 50 years old this month (1967-2017).

Looking at the Guardian comments, the town / city strongly divides opinion. Lots of memories of concrete cows, roundabouts, and MK Dons.

What are your thoughts?

Nope. Berlin, 1941, not MK and rather more than 50 years ago.
Nah.

Britain conceptualised it in 1833 and made the first analog computer in 1872.
Britain the first electronic data processing system in 1934.
USA the first electromechanical analog computer in 1938.
Germany the first electromechanical relay computer in 1941.
USA the first automatic electronic digital computer in 1942.
Britain (MK) the first digital electronic programmable computer in 1943.

Of course, the Iraqis invented the abacus about 5k years ago. That was the first pre-analog computer.

Did you miss the word "programmable"? Would be a bit odd since you fking wrote it. rolleyes
And in any event none of that happened in Milton Keynes, not even the abacus.
It's all in there, son. Including the word "programmable". And Bletchley Park is in MK wink

As per the Guardian article, MK seems to divide opinion. People either love it or hate it.

One thing's for sure -- MK has the best road and cycle network in the UK, probably Europe, and possibly the world. That alone should make it a PH favourite driving
