Act of parliament is required.

Voted 8 to 3 in favour of that judgement.

So the white paper is due today. With Emily 'I don't like the union jack' Thornberry promising hand to hand combat over its content, it's going to be a long few weeks.

What pisses me off about the whole process is it seems to me all about selfishness and ego. Literally every fker wants a say in how Brexit looks and is executed. Bunch of wkers.

I say the result of the referendum was clear, now let the govt get on with the job of enacting it.

So the debate is going on now. Ken Clarke has stuck his oar in starting that even Enoch Powell would be surprised at the current Tory party.

Do one, Ken.

Yep! MPs back legislation to give UK PM Theresa May the power to begin Brexit negotiations by 498 votes to 114.
Good news. The negotiations will be a rocky road and it'll be interesting to see just how badly our European 'friends' want to fk us.

Interesting times.

They may want to, in order to keep tbe other captives in the cage, but with UK offering tax haven status as an antidote they'd be very foolish to try.

Then again the EU incompetents are also foolish, so the usual suspects may go in for the usual posturing.
You have to look for them but I've found a few positive articles on the whole process in the depths of the guardian in the last few days. This is an interesting one.

Maybe the mandarins behind the front line mouthpieces have a more conciliatory view, which bodes well for the process.

Whatever the original motive, I think Gina Miller and Co. have actually - in hindsight - done HMG a huge favour.

The case has drastically reduced the chances of any legal challenges after Article 50 is triggered and clarified the role of the devolved bodies (which is that they don't have one).

Apart from that it has given MPs two days to pontificate and generally waste a bit of their own time giving some grandstanding speeches which is what they enjoy more than anything else.

On the whole though if Miller's original motive was to try and stop/delay/question/frustrate Brexit it has been a complete disaster even though they won the case as she's done the exact opposite.
Your analysis is spot on in my view. Good work.

Looks like a new legal challenge today over the EEA ffs. I read about this a few weeks ago and got the feeling it could be quite tricky.

Could we legally leave the EU yet stay in the EEA?

Some comedy gold today, Alex salmond nearly getting offered outside, Anna Soubery almost crying or is that drunk.
Is this on Beeb iPlayer or similar?! I'd consider watching some non-live BBC output for that. It sounds very entertaining.

The latest vote suggests it will be a take it or leave it deal on offer when we leave.

Either accept the deal with the EU May negotiates or leave on wto rules.
That's what I understand it to be. Which basically means it's meaningless. Which is all good from my perspective.

So it seems the phoney PR leak offensive has begun from our European friends. Juncker et al leaking that Theresa is delusional with regards to our obligations and responsibilities.

Have some decorum and negotiate properly in confidence with some respect you fools. This kind of language is inflammatory.
