How NOT to win friends and influence people on PH

So Brexit means we need 3000 less bureaucrats and pen pushers?
There's a saving already.
Quite apart from the personal cost to those involved, we are about to lose the economies of scale, since we will be 'taking back control' of all the functions whose costs were shared between 28 countries. So if you think we are about to save money, I suggest you are somewhat mistaken. There's a saving already.

There are only 12 countries paying more in than they receive.
True, but totally unrelated to the point I was making regarding administration and back office costs. If you think that back office functions are irrelevant, try getting paid when your employer forgets that they actually do matter.

Never a good idea to discuss sex, politics or religion on a forum, but you started it
Consider that there are those (amongst the probable racists, xenophobes and of course the 'economically illiterate' ) who saw the corruption, waste, and general undemocratic, unaccountable farce of the EU as 'evil' and decided, as 'good men', to do something, and so voted to leave.
Just sayin'.
If you think the appropriate response is to threaten 3 million EU citizens (some of whom are my friends, neighbours, and colleagues) with deportation then I reckon you are mistaken - that is truly evil.Consider that there are those (amongst the probable racists, xenophobes and of course the 'economically illiterate' ) who saw the corruption, waste, and general undemocratic, unaccountable farce of the EU as 'evil' and decided, as 'good men', to do something, and so voted to leave.

Gosh, is that really going to happen? When? How? By whom? To where? In what?
(think you need to calm down a bit and question what you hear on the BBC/read in the Garunidan)
Threats to Rape and Murder are made my internet trolls daily, but I doubt they are ever likely to be enacted. Do you think the recipients of those threats are unaffected? Do you think that makes those threats acceptable?(think you need to calm down a bit and question what you hear on the BBC/read in the Garunidan)
Also, just because a threat is implicit, doesn't mean it doesn't exist.
And here is the story about 'Prepare to Leave' letters being issued by the Home Office, not from the Guardian, or the BBC - this is that progressive newspaper 'The Daily Mail'

Who decides on what the MEP votes on and are they elected
The Commission, comprising commissioners who are appointed by our democratically elected governments. In the UK we don't vote for appointees to roles in the UK parliament, we merely vote for MPs, they are then appointed to roles within the government. Hence we didn't vote for Prime Minister Major, or Brown, or May, they were appointed to those roles by their political parties.

And yet you want Scottish independence which is doing the opposite...?
Obviously there will be efficiency due to the scale of the EU, but at the same time big also means more inefficiencies in terms of processes, and also that often there is more compromise for everyone involved.
That seems entirely possible to me. But since a significant proportion of EU legislation is about standards (pollution, safety, equality etc) the compromise is probably made by those who have to raise standards as a result.Obviously there will be efficiency due to the scale of the EU, but at the same time big also means more inefficiencies in terms of processes, and also that often there is more compromise for everyone involved.
As for Scotland, I guess that depends on whether you value self determination and democracy. Personally I think independence would a mistake economically, but I can definitely see the argument politically and culturally. They really are between a rock and a hard place.

You're right but Juncker was appointed despite the objection of our appointed prime minister and elected government.
I guess it depends whether you think it is more important to be able to exercise a veto, or for decisions to be made by QMV i.e. weighted by population.Unlike the election of Juncker, the Brexit deal will be subject to a veto by any of the 27. So is that more or less fair than QVM?
