Equity income fund and REIT recommendations
Discussion
Hi all, I have a starting 5k to invest long term and want to potentially split across a couple of fund types. I’m considering 3k or so into the Neil Woodford equity income fund via Hargreaves, with a low .6% charge it hopefully should be a good steady long term bet. Current price is .2 over launch of 100 (missed the boat at 97.5p) – what are peoples thoughts on this fund and manager? I know he’s very well respected and did a fantastic job, albeit in totally different market conditions with Invesco. Alternatively any others I should consider?
Second option for the remaining 2k (though this can be upped) is a REIT, can anyone recommend some good ones, where to start for research etc? My gut feel is they’re a good intro into the real estate market and I know there can be some good returns as a result but whilst I don’t mind a medium risk I don’t want anything too dangerous 
