Hi

We had a chap come to the door this pm telling us all about a new Gov grant that is available for all houses with off road parking whereby an electric car charging point could be installed for free. From doing a bit of Googling I couldnt find the name of the company on his jumper (B E Installations) but did find that there is a grant scheme available.

The chap stated it would be absolutely free...but the grant info I found says something along the lines of a grant is available for £1000 towards 75% of the cost. I guess they charge me at 'free' and then claim the full cost (up to £1000) from the Gov on my behalf!

My questions are - if anyone has experienced similar:

- Is it free, really?

- Is there a standard pattern of socket I should ask for? I am not gen'd up on electrical cars but I would wager/guess the worldwide car industry hasnt settled on one pattern/type of plug.

- Is there any other use for this charge point - other than for cars - making it worthwhile for me to have?

Or should I run a mile smile

I dont have an electric car nor any plans to acquire one in the forseeable tbh...

Cheers smile
