Ride on Mower recommendations?

Have about 2/3 acre of fairly rough lawn/field (its too nice for horses, but not quite nice enough to call a lawn).

Looking to spend a couple of thousand on a ride on mower (to replace the secondhand one that was pretty old!), not sure where to start? You can get a new one for that price, or a relatively new second hand jobby,


Any particular makes to look out for etc? general tips?
