It's now been re-classified as a heap of junk and has been banished to the garage to serve out the rest of it's days sucking up wood chippings!!

It took all of 5 minutes with my new shiny shiny to change our minds. Dyson DC 59 Animal absolutely rocks. The official welcoming and wall hanging ceremony will be taking place later - pride of place on full show in the lounge.

My apologies Henry but you suck (not). Thanks for the many years service but I'm afraid there's no gold watch for you laddy.

Thought this might spark off the old Hoover debate hehe Fact is my old Henry is still going strong but I was amazed at how much stuff was left behind. I went over it again with the Dyson and had to empty it THREE times!! granted the battery Dyson has a small capacity but come on THREE trips to the bin - Henry just does not cope with 2 dogs and two cats end of story.

Obviously I can't comment on its longevity and the price tag is stupidly high but then again Wifey is happy and I got my brand new Stihl MS211-C chainsaw into the bargain bounce

Remember to post back when the Dyson goes in the bin. wink
Will do but it wont be for at least two years thereafter there's nothing in it that I can't fix myself spin by which time there should be plenty of spare parts available at my local tip wink

Reality check - dear old Henry compared to a small battery powered DC59 is absolutely crap! It's taken me 10 years or so to even contemplate looking at an alternative but facts are facts and I was wrong.

Also such a joy not to have to wrestle with it to get it out of the understairs cupboard, assemble it, plug it in and then fight to drag it round the place without it falling over or the pipe twisting - don't even mention the fact I had to unplug it and lug it upstairs to do the rest of the stairs and bedrooms!

My personal experience has been that Dysons suck ok when brand new BUT..

- the plastic material is brittle and heavy
- the actual design ergonomics are piss poor and it's not the easiest thing to heft about
- they degrade like hell over time. The one thing they are NOT supposed to do.

We got a Sebo on the advice of my business partner's mum and that thing sucks for the Fatherland.
My post refers to a DC59 Animal (cordless)

1) definitely not heavy.
2) easiest to "heft" around by far.
3) Haven't a clue what you mean by that.

By comparison Henry is absolute pants!
