Hey!

Quick intro from me - I'm normally found lurking in the GG thread. However, I'm after a little inside knowledge from those in the know.

We're currently in the throws of moving to village life from town. I have the Barbour™ jacket and black labrador on order - and am gathering an understanding of when to put my car keys in the fruit bowl.

However, I'm a bit stuck on something.

We're moving from an 'exec' style 4 bed detached house to a 3 bed detached bunaglow. We will need to almost immediately make some more space. This can either be achived via A) a loft conversion, 2) A rear extension or D) both.

It's been 20 years since anyone in my family built an extension, so have no ideas on extension costs per Sqm and loft conversions are also new.

Can anyone offer advice? It's Cambridgeshire if that helps.

TIA

For the extension if you budget around the £1250 per Sqm you won't be a million miles away. Loft conversion costs can vary massively depending on structural works etc. They generally tend to be a lot more disruptive to the house whilst work is going on .
Where a bouts in Cambridgeshire are you ?
Thanks for this - and the other contributions. To be honest, it's roughly what I assumed. I will probably end up, out of complete ease, getting a 'one stop shop' place into do the loft conversion first - with an extension to come later.

Ooooh - and it's Cambourne.
