Hi all, hoping for a bit of assistance with a claim I'm trying to make with the builder of my house. The property is 3 years old in may and Sunday night we heard an almighty bang and then the rest of the night the sound of something reasonably substantially flapping round in the breeze. Went outside but couldn't see anything.

Following morning I'm greeted with this:

So I phone the builder (Harratt Bomes) to get someone out to sort it. Nope. Wont touch it. 'storm' damage apparently. Horse st.

I've checked met office data for sunday night, windspeed high twenties mph with gusts between 40 and 50 mph. This is fairly typical for the area.

Doing a bit of research it appears this is a well documented issu, NHBC advise one in 60 new builds have an incorrectly built roof and theres various articles advising builders how to wrangle out of claims, but none for claimants.

So, what do I do to get my roof fixed? I'm not buying the storm damage nonsense, I don't the roof ever met BS5534 and needs fixing. Any advice how to deal with the builder?

Sorry not trying to be clever but what about your building insurance. They should come out and fix it properly if it is storm damage.

Agree with the other post bodge job.
That was their suggestion. The whole point of buying a new build was to get the security of the NHBC Guarantee as we were first time buyers (and didn't really know what we were doing.

If they don't play ball then I suppose that is what i'll do
