My shed has been totally overrun by spiders. It's like some kind of horror film

My question is, why are there so many of them? There will easily be several hundred (8x6 shed). What are they all eating? How have they survived all winter? Will they work together to kill me?

I'll admit it, the though of clearing it out physically scares me, but I don't particularly want to burn it down - does any kind if insecticide work on spiders?

I'm planning on sealing up all the edges with sealant/gap foam to stop them getting in once it's clear.

Those smoke grenade things look just the ticket.

No pics - I'm not staying still in there for that long.

My washing line is attached to the shed - I got some washing in last night but left the pegs on the line. This morning every single peg had a spider in it. It's just not on.

Last week there was a clump of cobweb on the inside of the shed door, I nudged it with a stick and it opened up and dozens of tiny spiders ran out of it. They are clearly cloning an army

Do spiders have nests? I thought they were solitary?

That does seem a proportionate response to be fair

I cut the grass this aft, and could see loads of spiders running away from the mower as it approached, scurrying up the walls of the garden.

I cant even let my kid play in the garden as the grass is covered in spiders! I need to sort it before the mrs realises as she will make us move house
