Hello,

Looking for an upright Vacuum Cleaner for about £100.

What do I need to look for - does wattage determine how well it's going to clean?

I like Dyson because the filters can be washed and do not need replacing - are any other vacuums like this? How do Vax compare?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Find another £10 and get this one - it's brilliant: http://www.amazon.co.uk/NV480-Upright-Bagless-Vacu...

Very easy to empty, and the filters are foam you rinse out and dry.
Thanks for the suggestion - looks good. Bagless and washable filters tick the boxes.

Concern is the power - 700w seems fairly low. I believe they can legally go upto 1600w but places can sell surplus stock of the more powerful ones. TJ Hughes are selling a 2000w Hoover Whirlwind. Anyone used that.

The Shark looks good though, I'll check out their websire.

Found this to clean every bit as well as the older Dyson we also have in circulation.

Thanks - looks good.

Gets a carpet rating of A which is good, because my house is carpeted.

Any idea if the filters are washable? Is it easy to empty?

Anyone know if Hoover or Vax bagless models have washable filters?
