Afternoon all,

As part of a restoration project I need to paint a few parts of a vehicle in gloss white (the rest of the vehicle is in gloss red). It is going to be on display in an outdoor museum, out in the open 24/7. Now, I had quite a job to convince the other people involved that, despite it being technically the correct colour, white would be an alright colour to use - they said "it is very high maintenance - it gets dirty quickly, needs a lot of constant cleaning and even the most minor scratch or chip damage shows up very easily". It is going on things such as wheels so it will have grease and rust from wheelnuts etc washed onto it by the rain.
Hence, I've promised to find the hardest, most weatherproof, glossy/smooth/non-dirt-retaining and generally all round tough paint I can - but still at a reasonable price and available on the high street. It will be put on over a rustproof primer so rust resistance is not essential.

What would people recommend? I've previously used Sandtex all weather exterior gloss and been quite impressed with how that stands up (easy to apply too - not too thick or too thin). Is there anything better?

Thanks, I'll check out the International stuff (actually I think thats what the primer I'm using is)

I'm not so keen on Hammerite as it seems to be a bit rubbish these days - very thick and hard to get a flat finish with, but not actually that tough
As for 2-pack - I'm after something I can buy off the shelf at a DIY shop, and easily brush paint in my garage
