Identify this tree please?

Can anyone help identify this tree? The leaves look like a Beech but the trunk doesn't look right to me... I want to speak to the council about trimming it (in green belt) and need to know the variety.so they can determine what level of protection is on it

Thanks for the replies.

I think I'm gonna have to get a tree surgeon to come in and give some advice. The tree is close to the house, probably not as close as the photo suggests - around 8m to the closest corner of the house. No signs of cracking issues on the brickwork of the house.

Not been able to see any fruit on there, but agreed that Walnut appears to be the closest match. I'll have to get a tree surgeon in to advise on what can be done with it...
