Removing a brick for a letterbox

I need to rearrange my postal deliveries - they currently come through the front door but if I'm not here the dog is partial to "opening" items for me.

Basket on the back of the door is not an option (hall is too narrow and the basket would prevent the door opening fully). I could stick a postbox on the wall outside but I'm not overly keen on those. We have a semi-integral garage,the outer half of which is single-skin brick. Can I remove one brick to use as a postbox, with a suitable fitting on the outside, without the wall collapsing?

Yes, that's our current workaround but it does get in the way when you come home!

Yes, definitely the quicker and easier option and I may well end up doing that, I just wondered about the wall option as it would be a neater (and more secure?? For the post, anyway) option.
