Big big car port DIY
Discussion
After a bit of a spending spree this summer I need to erect a Carport pronto.
Needs to accommodate 4 cars so assuming Car length is15ft and width 10 ft (allowing clearance) Im looking at a 40ft behemoth.
Thinking that 20ft roof joists will do the trick as follows:
2 x back, 2 x middle & 2 x front = 6 joists
Then support beams going front to back using 16ft joists = 5 joists
For the uprights I'm thinking 4 x 4 10ft posts concreted into the ground (although 5x5 might be better) as follows:
5 at front, 5 in middle, 5 at back = 15 posts
To cover the back and sides from the elements was thinking chip board with lapping over the top.
For roof Corregated plastic.
Please all and any thoughts on the way I am proposing to do this, the cost of materials, where best place to get them and time to carry this out.
Cheers
