I currently have 2 mains switched external lights at the rear of my house, however, I'd like to convert these to PIR (with an option to have the lights on permanently).

I know most PIR offer this facility if you switch the power supply off and on within a pre-specified time period.

In terms of the PIR sensor, I'd like something fairly unobtrusive, but also something which won't be triggered by a leaf moving on a tree, etc

Any suggestions welcome!

You can get PIRs from Maplins for a tenner mate.
£10 for a lantern with a built in PIR? Sounds overly cheap to me, but thks for the info.

I know. I was trying to be polite in my reply. I specifically want a lantern with built in PIR, hence the title. The clue is in the question, and all that.

I want the minimum amount of stuff mounted on the wall and no further chasing, etc.

i messed around trying to set up a pair of pir latterns and found it was easier to get 2 plain lamps that you like and fit a pir sensor to control them both , that way you can mount the sensor in a more ideal place and get a decent quality one
Ta. I have an old house, with a roughcast finish on the section that the lamps are currently mounted on. There is no where within the routing of the two current 240v feeds to wire in a discrete PIR sensor. Also, making good the wall without it standing out like a sore phallus is going to be more work...
