Fire risks prompt tumble dryer recall.

BBC said:
A "significant" number of tumble dryers sold in the last 11 years in the UK may need a repair owing to fears about fires.
Owners of large air-vented dryers and condensing dryers under the Hotpoint, Indesit and Creda brands may need to have them fixed.
Indesit said that excess fluff could catch the heating element in the machine and cause a fire.
It is recalling many dryers bought between April 2004 and October 2015.

Is one's belly button fluff similarly at risk..?
Two protruding bellies + a stolen kiss on carpet made of Nylon = static spark...and whoosh! mybrainhurts said:
That Sir is a washing machine and not, I repeat not, a tumble drier and it certainly did not catch fire, so ner! Though it does go to show that afflicted machines might be OK in use as long as only bricks are dried in said appliances. This will come as no surprise to some but, thought it worth an update.

Hmmm....so what happens if you already own one of these affected tumble dryers, but want to sell it without the recall work being carried out......would you be held liable if the dryer caught fire in the new owners home?
Well, it wouldn't be a great selling point having to inform the purchaser that the dryer might suddenly combust, as would imagine one would have to inform them of such. Then the ball would be in their court for responsibility of such. Owners told not to use dangerous tumble dryers after all.

But following advice from Trading Standards, the new guidance is not to use them until they are repaired.
A statement on the Whirlpool safety website says: "If your tumble dryer is affected by this issue, then you should unplug it and do not use it until the modification has taken place."

Whirlpool tumble dryers: MPs' anger as replacement ends.
BBC said:
MPs are demanding to know why the white goods manufacturer Whirlpool ended a product replacement scheme for dangerous tumble dryers.
The Commons business committee says one million of the defective machines remain in UK homes.
Last week, a coroner blamed a fault in a Whirlpool dryer for a 2014 fire that killed two men in north Wales.
The firm says it is still offering free repairs, but ended a £50 offer for a replacement machine after demand fell.
The affected machines include dryers manufactured under the Hotpoint, Indesit, Creda, Swan or Proline brands between April 2004 and October 2015.

There's still 300/500 thousand dryers out there that have not yet been 'fixed'. Clicky

While there were 5.3 million dryers made, Whirlpool says many would have fallen out of use. In 2015, it estimated 3.8 million of them were still in use. After the modifications, and more customers replacing their dryers, it now believes that between 300,000 and 500,000 is a “conservative estimate” of how many are still being used as of June 2019.
The dryers had been made by Indesit and sold under the Hotpoint, Indesit and Creda brands. Subsequently, models under the Swan and Proline brands were added to the list.

An epidemic has set in as--> Explosions tear through dozens of HGV trailers behind Whirlpool factory in Peterborough sending huge cloud of smoke across the city.
I jest, but it does look bad, and a tad strange going by the photos.
