Spent last night painting the garage floor. Did not get much actually pained as spent the first hour or two sweeping it out. There was a lot of dust. I assume concrete dust. The garage is 9 years old.

Anyway, seemed fairly dust free. Gave it a good coat and left for 24 hours. Luckily only did about 30%.

Tonight went back in to carry on with the rest of it and thought I would give it another quick sweep... sweeping the area already done its coming straight off like a fine powder.

I assume the concrete is breaking up into dust?

Whats the best way forward? Some kind if seal?

Should I try and remove the stuff that's not taken well?

Its dry now, it just comes off with a gentle brush into a fine powder. Should I pva over the top of it or try and brush it off?

This is the situation...

I don't really want to change the paint. I have a big drum of PVA... so I reckon that's going to be worth a go?

Now you mention that I checked the tin and it says 10c also... bugger.

Will still PVA though.

I have painted a couple of garage floors in the past and never had a problem tbh. I think this one is because the slab is quite old and just turning to powder.

Took a trip out to B&Q yesterday and came away £150 lighter (Henry and Ronseal concrete sealer).

Put a coat of seal down this afternoon after a good going over with the vac. Will see how it stands up to the yard brush tomorrow but if it does then I will start painting (again!)

Took a few pics so will post up once its done.

Seems to have done the trick. Bushed the old stuff off as much as possible then gave it a full vac out.
Used Ronseal garage floor sealer - paint went on much better after that.
Gave it 2 coats, second coat just drying when I took the pic.

Just need to get under the shelves etc sorted, will do that when I get time!

Yeah wifey was not happy with me using the one out of the house so had to make a trip to Currys.

Kind of ran out of time but wanted to paint the walls too - a job for another weekend!

Yes after the disaster of the first attempt I ran out of time to move everything off the shelves and unscrew them off the walls.

I will get a small roller that will reach under and get them boxed off at the weekend - 5 min job.
