Lighting location advise
Discussion
Hi All,
I know from previous threads that Guy is the man to talk too about purchasing lighting (I will contact him once I have an idea of what I need). I am after some lighting positioning for my room.
There will be wall lights either side of the chimney, however, it is the location and operation of the spotlights that are causing me concern.
To clarify the drawing - the Grey RSJ line is to indicate that the RSJ is not hidden in the ceiling..at present it is cladded with a plastic oak cover which will be plasterboarded. Also thinking of having uplighting coving around both parts of the room on the same switch as the wall lights.
The questions I have:
How many lights do I need?
Should the living room area have the same layout of lights as the dining area?
If any lights are infront of the chimney \ wall hung tv, would it be best to have them on another switch? so I can watch TV with no glare from the lights.
Any suggestions on light placement?
I would prefer the lights in the dining area and living room be on seperate switches. The Wall lights will be a seperate switch.
I will have dimmable switches, and hopefully warm white lights.
Thanks.

Thanks , some good points noted, especially the pendants over the table.
The wall lights will actually be picture lights. Under the pictures on one side will eventually be an upright piano and the other side a PC for the kids.
There will be a couple of floor lamps too combined with the uplighting coving, so we won't have to have the spotlights on all the time.
Guy, is it OK to drop you a pm to discuss this?
