Been and seen it this morning, I love it mostly due to the epic garage...
Other half isn't so keen.
Here it is, what do you think?

More pictures to follow shortly as taking the MIL round, see if I can get her onside.

It would be a long-term home.
If we went for this we wouldn't have much disposable income to do loads of work. The top garden is a mess but nothing a few days of hard graft wouldn't sort. The kitchen is dated and we'd have to do something with it longer term but it's livable. Likewise the lounge.
Problem is I can see potential and looking long-term it ticks boxes, other half can't see past tomorrow.

I find it hard to believe the price of houses 'down South'.
That property would be £120K in my town on the North Wales coast.
It's crazy isn't it. We'd be moving from a 3 bed ex council like this one http://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...That property would be £120K in my town on the North Wales coast.

A very stuck in the 70s semi for £278k!
Kitchen very dated, horrible fake beams and artex combo. Fireplace is vile! Horrible concrete tile cladding on the front.
Fair comments. Values round here really are that high, see the link above for the ex council house. The price is certainly negotiable, it's a probate sale and I'd expect somewhere around 260k. A 40k different from where we are now.Kitchen very dated, horrible fake beams and artex combo. Fireplace is vile! Horrible concrete tile cladding on the front.

Nothing a bit of decorating won't sort. Any house you can make your own over time, and it looks like you'd get a car in the garage with room to open car door.
Big plus.
I'll add a picture later, but I reckon I could get the V70 and the frogeye in it, with space to spare. It's got a roof area too, accessed via steps at the back. Big plus.

If it's really going to stretch you financially to buy that, I'm not sure I'd go for it. It is, being brutal, a very unremarkable house needing a lot of work to make it halfway-nice. If the garage is the only draw, then whilst I completely understand that, I'm not sure it makes sense to go for it?
A good question. The garage is a draw undoubtedly, but so is the parking/driveway situation compared to where we are. It's a nicer setting than we currently have. I like the layout too.

And yes, the prices are crazy. It's tempting just to stay where we are with minimal outgoings. We'd be increasing borrowing from 100k to 150k roughly.
So you have around £120K equity in your current place ?Sell up, move to my town and be mortgage-free. :-)

Don't know local values as I'm in Devon, so can't comment
questions
1) Is there a gas supply, if so good news gas combi boilers way way cheaper than oil, also you can ditch the oil tank
2) Have a walk up the street, I can't tell the pitch of the roof from the images but have a look for velux or dormer windows, see if anyone else has created more space in the loft
3) I have PMed you a Rightmove Plus report on all 3 similar 3 beds within 0.25mile that have been marketed/sold
4) There is a similar house without the large garage coming on the market on Monday for less money, either look at that or use it as a stick to beat the vendor with
5)I agree about kerb appeal
6) remember whenever you offer on a house the agent is "Selling" you to the vendor, if you come accross as uber organised with everything to do with the transaction in hand and it looks like it will be painless the agent will want you to be the buyer
Thanks for that. Very helpful.questions

1) no gas supply
2) no other houses of this style on the road
3) thanks for that. I actually live within that 0.25 radius atm
4) is that the one I linked to earlier? If so that's what I live in current (although not that one!). They are in a large ex council estate opposed to set back off the road if you know what I mean
6) great advice again. Thanks.
I think the garden is going to kill this idea more than anything else. I'd be prepared to graft on the house but can't do much with the garden. It's certainly not cheap for the area, I think it's about 20k over priced. I might chuck in a low offer just to see what happens.
Thanks for the link above, it is a lovely house apart from being in the roughest estate round here, Netley View, aka Netley Zoo.

That would be coming up to £400k near me in South Bucks,£280k three years ago...things have gone mad.
For context I paid 150k for one of these back in 2012. 4 years later it's valued at 220khttp://www.rightmove.co.uk/property-for-sale/prope...
Despite you lot saying its a bit crap, I still really like it. Interestingly the other half has agreed she quite likes it now. Her reservations were that the work wouldn't get done very quickly. That I would procrastinate. And the garden.
So I went back round yesterday afternoon and took a picture of next doors garden to see what they had done. Whilst not pretty, its better than what we'd have and has shown the Mrs that with a bit of work it could be liveable.
Yes its work, but its not a huge amount. The kitchen is the same, some tile paint, remove the fake beams and a lick of paint and it would be nicer. The only thing she'd need to live with for a while is the fireplace.
RE the shared driveway, its a shared entrance, like my drawing below (not to scale )
and here is the googlemap of the place, the car in the pic isn't on the block paving driveway.
So I've chucked in a cheeky offer.
