So....the best laid plans and all that.....

We had an above ground pool up for the summer, this sits on a flattened platform of the (slightly sloping) garden.

Previously it had been a permanant fixture, but as it basically turned into a massive pond over the winter, we decided to replace with a collapsible one - great for the summer but once down it's left a 21' circular sand base that the cats/foxes etc from the neighbourhood have delighted in using as a communal toilet.

it seriously rank.

I'm thinking about covering it with an aesthetically pleasing option that will both preserve the base for next summer, whilst looking pretty good for the next 6 month.

Fake grass is possibly an option, but It's quite large and will obvioulsy jar against the rest of the lawn

Paving? pain to take up on an annual basis

Shingle? - still likely to be shat upon......

any other options/ideas i'm missing?

(three small kids so has to be safe as well)

Cheers y'all

Can you not pave it, then come putting the pool on top for the summer, cover the paving in some matting/ foam/ rubber etc.
thats a good shout - hadn't though of leaving stuff down as the pool base is supposed to sit on sand - but i guess a foam base ill be fine - particularly as it's only down for the summer.

circular paving designs... hmmmm
