I am looking for a roof lantern for a kitchen extension. Initial thoughts were to go for a UPVC one, however the The roof-maker ones online look particularly good with a slim aluminium frame.

Has anyone used this company ? Any recommendations would be appreciated

Thanks for the advice all. I have taken a look at the eurocell ones, the frames look a little bulky and hence why we were thinking of going for the roof maker lights.

Is triple glazing worth it for a 1.5m x.2.5m lantern? Also unsure whether to go for the blue tint, we are south facing so a lot of light during the day will be in this part of the extension.

Thanks

I have spoken with Roofmaker and they suggested the blue tint for a south facing room, cuts out UV and reduces direct glare which might not be a bad idea considering the lantern will be directly above a kitchen island, however it does reduce the light transmission by about 20%

JC180 - did you consider the blue tint by any chance? How is the internal view?

If it does it wasn't noticeable.

Unless it's tiny and the only light source in the room it won't matter
Ok , I am glad to hear this . I was concerned whether this made an actual difference as it would defeat the purpose of having a roof light in the first place.

Thanks for the great help here. I think I will go for the blue tint. Now need to see if they can offer any discount.

Does anyone have internal pics of these lights?

Thinking of placing an order for one of these - still undecided on the blue vs standard glazing.

Thanks for the advice here. I have placed an order for the Roofmaker lantern.

It Apparently weighs 165kg and needs 4-6 people to move. Question for those that have one installed...how did you get it in place ?crane.

Rechecked the weight with Roofmaker and it actually weighs 175kg, Will probably need to hire a crane of some form - the spider crane seems like it might fit the bill.
