Relocating in the spring to Preston...Don't want to be living in city centre but don't know the general area well. Any suggestions on nice places to live on the outskirts? Ideally within 15 minute drive of centre, for work & somewhere with a few pubs/shops etc..More south of the city area as friends in Liverpool

Thanks very much for all the info everyone...It's given me a shortlist to look at. I have looked at Walton le Dale area but wasn't sure if there was much to do there, as in local pubs etc. Suppose I'm looking for a large village/market town kinda thing with easy driveable access to Preston for work. Going to rent initially so we can get to know area bit better. Thanks again for all your advice 😀

To be fair Wrea Green is neither South, nor within 15 minutes of the centre of Preston. It certianly ticks the nice requirement though!!

Heading South from Prston there are some nice bits of Penwortham, which puts you near the A59, or Walton-le-Dale heading out towards Higher Walton. Easy access to the motorway from there, but if you're heading into Preston at busy times the traffic around there can be a pain. What sort of property are you looking for?

What are you looking for in your nice? Green, not rough, new build, quiet, child friendly? I'm currently living at the top end of Fulwood, North of the city pretty much as you get to the outskirts (until they finish building a millionty more houses in the area). It's nice, convenient for access to everything in Preston, and quick and easy to get out of Preston too.

I had looked at Walton le Dale already..Wasn't sure if there was much there though as in local pubs/shop etc. Don't want a rough area & kids now grown up so don't need schools. Want somewhere not totally rural, with a little bit going on...Just not the hustle & bustle of a city centre. Going to rent initially so we can settle into area & have a look around. Think I'll take a look at Fulwood too now though if easy access as will probably only add 15 minutes onto any Liverpool trips! Thanks for all the info...Much appreciated

laugh This is very true, it's amazing at times how far 'in Fulwood' can be spread.
