What is it with people nowadays and heat, every house that I visit is like a sauna yet the people still complain they are cold. The property I was working at today had the stat set to 25.5 degrees, it was unbearable and I had to leave as there was no chance of working in those conditions.

Everyone seems to be at it though, my dad used to sit there in a cardigan if it was a bit chilly, these days people answer the door to you in a pair of boxers and a tee shirt. And yet I constantly hear that everyone's gas bill cots a fortune, my stat at home is set to 18.5 and if I do anything physical that is uncomfortably hot.

They may well be commenting on another forum about the "crap" workman who didn't complete the job
No-one would have done it, I told her I had another job to go to, it felt like I was being sunburned, the temp control on the boiler was up full as well so the rads were throwing out the heat ferociously as well. I had the bathroom window open full and it didn't make the slightest bit of difference.

Mine too in most rooms, but 25c in the lounge.

And to be fair you can't expect people to change the heating in the house for a random tradesman.

When the carpet fitters changed our lounge carpet last year they were dripping in sweat, we have underfloor heating and when they pulled the old carpet up it was like a whole new level of heat hitting them. Poor sods laugh
Why would you not expect to change the heating setting for them, it can't have been nice to have heavily sweating tradesmen in your house. If anyone has ever got up on a Sunday morning when its quite chilly, cranked the heating up and then gone out in the afternoon and done something strenuous like gardening etc. I'll bet the first thing you say when you go back in is fk me its hot in here and turn the boiler off.

I understand that people who sit around doing nothing will feel quite chilly but someone who has to move a solid oak double bed and a full wardrobe across the bedroom, rip floors up and start chiseling a rock solid brick out isn't going to be as chilly as you, its called a bit of consideration.

Why wouldn't you?

How weird.
Because my house and my rules.

Crack a window open if you must, or perhaps dress for the environment you're working in?
Oh yeah because us floorlayers love crawling about on floors in a pair of shorts all day. we would have no legs left by the end of the day
Maybe I should strip completely naked in the next roasting hot house, how would that go down.
