I have got an upright Dyson, which is maybe 4 years old. Its started to smell of burning when switched on, and unsurprisingly it seems to be coming from the motor. I do not have to tools to open it up, so wondering if its worth taking to a local shop for repair? Worst case I suppose is that the motor needs replacing, but I have no idea how much that will cost, and ideas or suggestions?

Thanks for the replies.

Yep all filters checked, cleaned etc.

I will have another look at the belt accessability, I have a Torx set (coz I am a PH'er!) but I don't have a long extension that fits down some of the long access tubes.
