My next door neighbours got 2 puppies about 9 months or so ago, a shih Tzu and a bichon frise, little yappy things. At first it was fine as their barks were pretty quiet. Now they've matured the things are driving me up the wall with their incessant barking, from about 7am to 11pm when they get let out for their evening poo.

What's almost more annoying is that whenever the dogs start barking, the neighbours start shouting at the dogs, telling them off.

Neighbours are a retired couple so it's not as if the dogs are left alone all day.

I'm going to gently approach them about making their evening poo a bit earlier- I go to bed about 10pm due to having to be up at 5:30am for work, and our bedroom is at the back of the house. Hopefully they won't have a hissy fit about that. but is there actually anything they can do to shut the dogs up? Or am I going to have 10 years of getting driven mad?

Yeah I don't want to fall out with them as we get on pretty well and share the top half of the driveway. But the barking is starting to really get to me, I can't even go out in the back garden to relax as my presence sets them off. Will check out the other thread, cheers.

Can barking be trained out of dogs? I'm aware that the breeds they have are at the "less intelligent" end of the scale- in my limited experience of dogs, breeds such as springer spaniels and collies tend to be much quieter and only make noise for a reason.

They seem to run around the garden all day, can't say I've ever seen them be taken for a proper walk but I work full time so they might do it during the day, haven't noticed it at weekends though. I do think they probably need a good session up the park with a tennis ball to wear them out!

Appear to have found a solution.

Spent the day taking the undertrays off my BMW to clean it underneath. Dogs could smell me out on the drive between the two houses but couldn't see me due to laying on the floor so were going mental. This annoyed my neighbours so much they kept the dogs inside all day smile

Ahhhh peace and quiet biggrin
