As the title says really.

We have a cat called Amy who was 20 back in May.
The cattery said she is the oldest cat they have but I know that cats can get a lot older than 20.

How old is your pussy?

Good to hear that there are a few moggies as old and even older than ours and plently on their way too.

Our mog, Shelby, is 16 now. She had a thyroid problem diagnosed last year after a pretty awful bout of sickness and has recently gone deaf. She is a lovely old thing who spends the day sat indoors with the odd trip outside to chase leaves.
Amy used to spend her time sat on our digi box and eventually killed it so in a moment of genius we bought her one of these http://www.amazon.co.uk/Pet-Remedy-Voltage-Heat-Pe... in the hope that it would keep her away from the new digi box.

It has kept her away from everything as she only moves from it to eat and visit the cat crap tray. Admittedly the inch thick piece of foam and cover on the top of it don't help.

Our cats have always risen with us and gone to bed with us.
No nights on the tiles seems to help them live longer in my experience.

Our other cat who died of cancer a few years ago was 19 at the time.

When we took him to the vets and she thought he was about 5.
I think he would have outlived me.
I miss him terribly.

My last 2 were 19 and then 17. Great innings, very happy cats to the end. One dropped dead, one had to be put to sleep. That was a very tough day.
Our last cat, Keith died of cancer a few years ago.
I could barely believe the words were coming out of my mouth when I asked the nurse to give him the injection.
It still upsets me now to think about it. I'm such a softy.

My dwarf hamster died yesterday (RIP Kev. Such a great little fella) and it got me thinking that our remaining cat has outlived 2 other cats, 1 rabbit, 2 guinea pigs, 4 gerbils and a hamster. She must think she's immortal.

We lost Clyde at 17, Bonnie at 22 and Wednesday at 23. All 3 we had to make the decision for them as their quality of life had gone downhill very quickly at the end (it makes me tearful just typing this). But they were with us for such a long time and gave us such joy. Wonderful, wonderful creatures. It's true the pain of loss is as great as the joy you get from pets.
We con ourselves they are pets when they are really mates.
