Hi everyone,

Wonder if someone here could shed some light on this problem.

Recently my 3 year old female cat escaped my flat (so she had no way back in!) and spent about 2 days and nights alone outside. During this time we have spotted her a few times and she's always running back out of sight or meowing for food.

Luckily my flatmate managed to persuade her close enough with her favourite treats and got her by the scruff of the neck and back into the flat. We have put a cheap collar on her with a ringing bell, as she didn't wear one before (she'd pull it off, but this time we sized it on her to fit properly).

Since all this she's been meowing non stop. All night and all day. She's stood on window right now, making meows and sometimes these pitiful cries, as if she is in pain. She stops making the noise when she's given attention but was never this demanding before.

Anyone know what's up? Is it that she's tasted freedom and wants to go back outside? At my wit's end!

Cheers!
T

I assume she is spayed. Is she microchipped. If yes to both these can you not just let her out?

It does sound like she has tasted freedom and likes it!!
Yes she is, and I would like to let her roam but can't install a cat flap from my window onto the roof! She certainly does like it, poor thing spends a lot of time at home whilst we are out and about. Maybe she is depressed - can cats get this? :/

Thanks for the helpful comments all.

I'll get that tracker (or a cat GoPro?) when Sadie gets access to the great outdoors, i'll keep an eye on her until she gets that chance.

As an aside... I think her collar was causing her to meow a lot, she's managed to pull it off and now she's gone quiet! :S!
