I know rough housing with dogs is common and quite fun as long as no-one dog included gets carried away. Does anyone have cats that will try to instigate a play fight or is it just because hades is young <18 months

One of my cats will walk along near me, then just smack me in the legs. I don't respond though, I don't think they actually want a play fight.

Yes, Pepi will instigate it by clawing you when asking for a tummy rub

He claws, 'bites' & licks your hand & won't let go

If you stop tickling his tummy he uses his paws to drag your hand back down

And repeat til he's bored

You have just described my gorgeous little Fitz cat (happy memories smile) does Pepi pretend bite (I assume so by the way you have written it)? Fitz would mouth more than bite, mouth then lick smile

'Roughhousing' may be fun for dogs but IMHO is unsuitable for cats. Yes they like to play, but on their own terms. The moment I get the gardening gloves out my cat runs away because it knows its claws and teeth won't work. There's no point in intimidating an animal.
