Walking a big dog and a little dog together

Aside from the obvious comedy value from walking two dogs of vastly differing sizes; the other half and I are keen on getting a dog.
We currently live in a 2 bed apartment with a decent size balcony, with access to parks within about a 5 minute walk. We're going to be buying a house in the next 12 months, which is going to have a garden (and arguably more excitingly, as this is PH, a garage)
The current plan is to get a mini-sausage dog whilst we're in the apartment, then a golden retriever when we're settled in a house (probably in about 3 years' time)
The only concern that we have is how we would exercise two dogs with two very different exercise requirements to ensure they're both satisfied. I can't imagine a mini sausage dog would be happy with 2 hour walks/day and I wouldn't want to only exercise the retriever on a mini-sausage requirement which is about 30-40 minutes/day rather than 2 hours. Can anyone help us out?
